How do I find market share?

Market Share is the percentage of sales (by value of volume) that a company or brand has for a specific product or category.
Note: While you can calculate market share by taking the total number of sales for a company and then dividing that number by the total sales for the industry, you can also browse the library databases for market share information:
- Search for an industry and/or company by keyword
- Click on Major Companies for a list of major companies in the industry and their market share (%)
- Note: If generating your own calculations, total sales for the industry is located under Industry at a Glance
- Hover over the Industries tab and select Market Share Reports
- Search within the results for an industry and/or company
- Search for an industry and/or company by keyword
- Tip: Searching by industry yields more relevant results
- Select View All Results under Statistics
Market share information may also be located in recent trade or news articles. Try using your key words (including market share) in the library databases, Business Source Complete and ABI/INFORM Collection to locate relevant articles.
